KNOSSOS: The royal city complex of king Minos, on the island of Crete, flourished 4700 YEARS AGO.	These buildings are typical of brick-mortar-timber construction tecniques practiced throughout the ancient world, beginning 8000 or more years ago. Old-world archaeologists call it "mud-brick" building, but when found in the Americas it is referred to as "adobe". Building this way takes only earth, water, sun, a wooden brick mold, ladders and humans with picks and baskets.
