In March of
1993, respected German engineer Rudolf Gatenbrink used a remote controlled robot named
Upuaut II , carrying a video camera, among other sensory devices, to explore the 8"
square southern air shaft leading from the "Queen's Chamber" in the Great
Pyramid. His work, sanctioned by the Egyptian authorities, led to the discovery of a
blocking or closure stone (the media called it "Gatenbrink's Door") two hundred
feet up the shaft, penetrated by two pieces of copper with broken or melted ends
showing. Egyptian archaeological authorities say this is a "door" and they say
the protrusions are "handles".
The left photo is
of the "door" and its copper protrusions and to the right a closeup of the
leftmost copper protrusion.
| Remember, this is an 8" square shaft, (20cm) making the copper protrusions about a half-inch (13mm) diameter. |
By the
"Occam's Razor" principle (i.e. the simplest explanation is probably the best)
the "handles" look like broken-off or melted insulated power cables.
Personally, I can
think of NO OTHER REASON for a pair of half-inch copper cables to be embedded in a stone
block and run through a dry channel to an interior chamber other than as a conductor for
ELECTRIC POWER. The dark residue at lower right corner of stone block provides plausible
evidence of a metal ground strap running along the juncture of wall and floor. Perhaps
there was, originally, a generator of some sort elsewhere in, or on, the pyramid, or
perhaps the pyramid device was lightning powered. The TV show about this being a
"door" is an attempt to sweep this under the rug, so to speak. Giza
authorities (under the direction of Zahi Hawass) like to keep our attention safely focused
on "mummies".
